Vhong: 'I joined showbiz because of Dolphy'

An emotional Vhong Navarro on Wednesday paid tribute to the country's "King of Comedy" Dolphy, saying he joined show business because of his admiration for the veteran comedian.

Navarro said he admired Dolphy's strong disposition in life and passion for making people happy.

I love you so much," Navarro added.

Navarro worked with Dolphy in the film "“Daddy O, Baby O” and the long-running TV sitcom “Home Along Da Riles.” In Dolphy's biography "Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-Isa," the King of Comedy praised Navarro as one of the best young comedians in the country.

Si Vhong Navarro, OK," Dolphy said.
Dolphy died on Tuesday night due to multiple organ failure brought by pneumonia and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Locsin, known for her award-winning dramatic portrayals on TV and film, will be tackling comedy for her next film project, where she will be paired with Navarro.

She first worked with the comedian in weekend sitcom "TODA Max."

On reprising his "love team" with Locsin on the silver screen, Navarro said it is nothing short of a dream come true. Nakakagulat. Pangarap ko 'yun eh," Navarro said at the recent trade launch event of ABS-CBN.

Other projects: For her part, Locsin said she is grateful for the opportunity not only to star in big projects, but to better her craft as an actress. “I’m very happy kasi itong contract ko na ‘to meron akong apat na pelikulang gagawin," Locsin said during her film contract signing in April.

Aside from the Vhong-Angel starrer, work is also underway for the reunion project of Locsin and her former on-screen partner Richard Gutierrez.

Locsin is also filming for Star Cinema's Metro Manila Film Festival entry "One More Try." For the project, Locsin will star alongside actress Angelica Panganiban and actors Zanjoe Marudo and Dingdong Dantes. Also starring action star Robin Padilla and actress-comedienne Pokwang, "TODA Max" airs Saturday nights on ABS-CBN.
